 January 9, 2006, Houston.

The Service Center is pleased to announce the opening of its new, Digital Printing facility, located at the company’s corporate headquarters in Houston.

Also known as Print On Demand, Digital Printing has improved dramatically in recent years.  Its’ quality is now on par with offset printing, and it is becoming a popular way for companies to maintain control over the branding and content of a campaign, while allowing for customization and ordering on a local level.

What is Digital Printing?
The term digital printing refers to printing finished pages for brochures, journals, booklets, etc., rather than using an offset printing press and commercial printing.  Digital printing is not a new technology, but only recently has its’ quality reached a level where it is comparable to offset printing.  In time, it is expected that even the large, high-speed commercial presses will become digital.

What are the benefits of Digital versus Offset Printing?
  • Speed and cost.

Offset printing includes mechanical steps such as making films, color proofs, and making plates.  With digital printing, these steps are eliminated!  The results:  Fast turnaround, high quality output and significantly reduced costs.

  • Print only the quantity you need.

Digital printing makes it cost effective to print only the quantity you need.  Instead of printing a fixed quantity of a piece, send us the pdf, and we will print as your orders come in.  If you want to reduce your storage costs, this is the way to go.

  • Incorporate variable printing.

Digital printing allows you to incorporate variable data into your printing.  Time and time again, variable printing has produced higher response rates than traditional static print.

  • Simplify internal order processing and cost accounting.

With digital printing you can “distribute” the ordering and billing of corporate literature and other pieces to different departments in your organization.  For example, your Atlanta office can order 50 employee benefit brochures and we can bill them directly, rather than have it realized as a corporate expense.
